Freedom Tower

This is an inspirational building to a country that watched as it's predecessor buildings and the people in it were destroyed and killed by terrorists. To a grieving nation, this beautiful, glossy titan gave hope to the United States. It's in the name: Freedom Tower:

1. The height to the tip of the skyscraper is symbolic, as it is 1,776 ft and it is homage to the year that the Declaration of Independence was signed; a true milestone in modern architecture.

2. It's base is 200 square feet, like the original Twin Towers.

3. It is regularly illuminated with different colours at night on various obvious (Christmas, 4th July) and obscure occasions (Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in honour of Archbishop Timothy Nolan).

4. Bad weather (mostly strong winds) delayed the final weeks of construction; the crew stated their biggest natural problem was not rain or snow, it was wind.

5. A fire broke out during construction on June 2, 2012, but luckily was quickly extinguished; if it had caused damage construction would have been halted if not terminated.

6. The building has many functions; restaurants, offices, hotels, observation decks and broadcasting facilities.
